2015 and continuing - "Advanced Employee Relations" - a three-day course for
experienced practitioners covering leave and attendance, performance management, and
discipline.
2012 to 2023 – Developed and delivered a one-day segment on Family and Medical Leave Act as part of the FELTG week-long course entitled “Absence and Medical Issues.” This was expanded by adding a second day of training on leave administration for types of leave other than FMLA.
2012 – Developed and delivered 14 sessions of the DLA HRM Supervisory Refresher course, a 1.5 day course highlighting elements required by the NDAA of FY 2010 for DoD supervisors. Topics included 1) review and improvement of performance rating criteria, 2) taking action on unacceptable performance, 3) harassment and reprisal issues in the workforce, 4) dealing with unions, and 5) grievance and appeal processes.
2011 – Developed and delivered a one-day course on Merit Principles and Prohibited Personnel Practices highlighting recent MSPB decisions and OSC decisions related to the staffing process and other related topics.
2008 and to date – Developed and delivered a one-day course entitled “Leave and Absence for Supervisors and Managers”. Multiple on-site offerings for DoD, EPA, and NASA.
2008 and to date –Multiple sessions of a two-day course entitled “Managing Conduct and Performance Issues” in both open enrollment sessions and on-site customized sessions for Federal agencies. On-site courses have been delivered for DoD, Interior, Energy, EPA, and NASA.
2008 – Co-authored and co-instructed 3.5 day Introduction to Labor Relations for HR practitioners course.
2007 and to date – Week-long course on Introduction to Employee Relations for HR practitioners. Multiple sessions delivered. Customized session delivered for NASA Glenn in 2011.
2006 and to date – Delivered multiple sessions of HR management and employee and labor relations training for Defense Logistics Agency and Joint Staff supervisors as part of week-long Applied HR Management course. The course was retooled in 2023 and is being offered at the Joint Staff as a three-day ER course.
2006 and to date – Multiple training sessions for managers, supervisors and HR Specialists on performance appraisal, developing credible SES performance measures, dealing with poor performance, moving to results-oriented performance plans, preparing for mid-year evaluations, and reviewing/improving performance plans. Courses/workshops delivered for agencies throughout government.
